Public calculation principles for kundli, panchang, dasha, and gochar

Natal positions, lagna, Panchang, Vimshottari dasha, and gochar use one consistent astronomical calculation layer. This page explains the public principles and interpretation boundaries without exposing operational providers, versions, server paths, or fallback configuration.

Calculation basisStandard Vedic astronomical calculation
Time standardBirth-place and timezone based
Result principleCalculation first, interpretation second

Server, provider, version, file-path, health-check, and internal configuration details are not published for security reasons.

What is calculated

The system derives planetary positions, lagna, houses, Panchang factors, dasha periods, and transit context from the same birth inputs. Missing or uncertain values are identified instead of silently invented.

How to review a result

Verify the entered date, time, place, coordinates, and timezone first. Then compare the displayed sign, nakshatra, pada, house, and period context. Small boundary differences require input review; they should never be hidden by invented values.

Where this engine is used

Free kundli, Panchang, moon sign, sun sign, lagna, full reading, dosha screen, Vimshottari dasha, and gochar/transit tools all read from one shared calculation engine. One birth time therefore feeds dasha and gochar from the same Moon and lagna.

What this does not claim

Matchmaking counts the full Ashtakoota (36 gunas) from Moon sign and nakshatra, but it is not house-based full kundli milan or a marriage decision. KP, Jaimini, and some varga interpretations remain rule layers on top of these longitudes. Numerology, vastu, and palm tools are not ephemeris problems. The Swiss label above appears only when Swiss Ephemeris is active on the server.

Kundli

Graha longitudes, lagna degree, and bhavas from the same Swiss Lahiri chart, using the house system shown above.

Panchang

Tithi from Sun–Moon elongation; nakshatra and rashi from sidereal Moon; Hindu sunrise when Swiss is live.

Dasha

Vimshottari balance from the birth Moon nakshatra fraction, so dasha dates move when the Moon longitude is corrected.

Gochar

Transit snapshot of the same nine grahas against natal Moon and lagna houses.

How kundli numbers are calculated

Astro Hindi uses one consistent astronomical calculation layer for kundli, Panchang, Vimshottari dasha, and gochar. This public page explains the principles and output boundaries; internal providers, versions, paths, health status, and server configuration remain private.

Trusted Tools
  • Use the same birth inputs across kundli, dasha, and transit tools.
  • Read dasha and gochar from the same Moon and lagna as the kundli.
  • Treat missing or low-confidence inputs as unavailable instead of invented.

Frequently asked questions

Why are internal engine details not shown?

Provider versions, server paths, health status, and fallback configuration are operational security information and are intentionally kept private.

What can users verify?

Users can verify their supplied birth inputs, displayed calculation context, and whether a result identifies missing or uncertain data.
